Birmingham LGBT is delighted to welcome Sonya Robotham to the team. Sonya will take up the role of Project and Events Officer coordinating a number of events including Shout, Birmingham’s Festival of Queer culture. Sonia will also facilitate the LGBT community forum and provide developmental support to the LGBT community groups in the city.
Sonya has over five years’ experience of working with the LGBT community in the East Midlands, is one of the founders of Rainbow Routes Derbyshire’s celebration of Queer Culture and has coordinated Derby Pride’s community area.
Commenting on the appointment Steph Keeble Director Birmingham LGBT said “We are really excited by this Sonya was a really strong candidate with a background in both the Arts and grassroots community work. I believe that this role will strengthen Birmingham LGBTs team enabling us to continue to deliver high quality services to the LGBT community in the city.
Sonya Robotham commented “I am thrilled to be a part of the Birmingham LGBT team and I can’t wait to be out and about in the community working with groups and working to maintain the high standards set by David and Steph in producing the Shout Festival and other community events.”
