The Annual Winter Pride Festival is back! Running from Saturday 5th – Sunday 13th March 2011.
Opening on Saturday, 5th March, the festival will showcase 60 events across the city in 25 different venues involving local community groups and businesses. A full calendar of events is available on the Pride website; www.brightonpride.org/calendar.php, a pocket size guide will be available in venues across the city next week and you can check out our Winter Pride Facebook page at www.facebook.com/#!/event.php?eid=127209074018819

Thank you to all the venues, promoters and community groups who have organised Winter Pride events. This is just the start of the 2011 Pride in Brighton & Hove calendar, which will showcase events and activities in which the whole community can take part in including the Pride Companion Dog Show in July, the summer festival week and of course the main parade and park events in August.

Winter Pride celebrates the local LGBT community and we hope visitors will travel to the city to join in the fun, helping raise vital funds for Pride in Brighton & Hove. The funds raised for the charity during Winter Pride are essential to ensure Pride has the capacity and structure to work with our partners to plan and develop a safe and enjoyable park event. Pride is committed to maximize fundraising for the local LGBT voluntary sector and support over 70 community groups at the park and in the parade, as we did last year, but we can only do this with your help. Raising funds through ticket revenue is just one way of asking Pride supporters to contribute to the costs of the event. Pride still believes it’s important to fund its activities through a diverse range of income streams; including sponsorship, business fundraising and voluntary donations. This provides greater security for income generation, keeps ticket prices low and offers the best method of raising vital funds for the local LGBT voluntary sector.
