Derby Pride Wins Prestigious Midlands Award


Committee members of Derby Pride are delighted to announce we have been awarded a prestigious award for Outstanding Contribution to the LGBT (Lesbian.Gay, Bisexual, and Trangendered) Community for Derby Pride 2010.

The award was nominated for by readers of Midlands Zone Magazine and the Birmingham Gay and Lesbian Ball, The Uk’s largest gay ball held on the 26th March 2010 at the ICC Complex, Birmingham.

The award was presented to Vice Chair Shaun Peaty by Stavros Flatley (Britain’s Got Talent Finalist) in front of an audience over 1,200 guests.

Speaking on the award Derby Pride Chairman Andrew Manning said “ receiving this award is not only a great honour for Derby Pride but gives recognition to the hard work and dedication to the Pride team who have shown outstanding commitment to the value of our mission statement and the LGBT community and the wider community of Derby. We would like to thank Derbyshire friend and many local businesses for their continued support and sponsorship.

Derby Pride is Derbyshire Annual LGBT Festival held on Sat 10th July at Bass Recreation Ground, Derby with a street parade through the city culminating in main stage performances, Family Zone, bars and market and community stalls.

The award will be on display at our first ever Derby Pride Ball on 8th May at the Royal Stuart Hotel, tickets still available with all profits going to fund Derby Pride 2010.
