Equal Marriage Welcomed By Scottish Unitarians

The announcement was made today, following a government consultation which produced a massive response in support of, same-sex marriage, including political leaders, equality groups and many others, despite opposition by some religious groups.

Same-sex couples in Scotland currently have the option to enter into civil partnerships and the Holyrood Government has confirmed that religious communities who do not wish to carry out same-sex marriages will not be forced to do so.

Scottish Unitarians are proud to have been involved alongside other faith groups, including the Liberal Jewish community, the Quakers, Buddhists and the United Reformed Church, as well as the Equality Network, in calling for this change in legislation.
