Terrence Higgins Trust, the UK’s largest HIV and Aids charity, has approached leading artists and designers and asked them to produce a piece of work exploring the source of their inspiration.
Whether it’s an inspirational person or a moment in their personal history which became a turning point, artists as internationally renowned as Julian Opie, (Mario Testino) and (Anish Kapoor) have submitted pieces for the exhibition. The artworks, taking the form of framed collages, will go on display at Fresh Art 2003 and will be auctioned (by xxxx) in aid of Terrence Higgins Trust on the opening night of the fair, Thursday 17th July. All proceeds from the auction and ticket sales at the charity preview evening will go to the charity. The exhibition will open for the duration of Fresh Art for all visitors to enjoy.
Fresh Art is the only art fair of its kind in the UK, where emerging artists, studio groups and recent graduates have the opportunity to reach a wide audience of buyers, galleries and press. For the visitor the fair represents a unique opportunity to discover artists at an early stage in their career and to buy artwork directly from artists. Fresh Art has already launched the careers of many artists with several of last year’s exhibitors now represented by galleries. Many also had their work shown on gallery stands at the London Art Fair in January of this year which is run by the same team.
All those taking part in Fresh Art are at an early stage in their artistic career and will no doubt be inspired not only by participating in the fair, but in seeing how established artists find the motivation and enthusiasm to continue making new work.
“Fresh Art has become a vital annual launch pad for talented artists seeking exposure to the art world and art loving public. Artists from all disciplines are showcased making Fresh Art an unrivalled platform for as yet undiscovered artists”. Lucy McNeill, Event Director
