GMFA, the gay men’s health charity, will be distributing condoms and lube to the thousands of revellers at this year’s Pride London on 4 July. For many, Pride is a chance to socialise, meet new people and have fun, and there’s the possibility of bed springs being tested to the full on Pride night. For those looking for that bit extra from their festivities, GMFA will be on hand to give the items out along the parade route, or they can be collected at the GMFA stand in Trafalgar Square.
Matthew Hodson, Head of Programmes at GMFA says: “Condoms are the best way to prevent the transmission of HIV and many other STIs, which is why we are proud to be on the Pride march, and in Trafalgar Square, with a large supply to hand out. Look out for us on the parade – we’ll be there with our three metre-high flags, demonstrating our determination to continue our vital work to improve gay men’s health. Give us a shout if you think you’re going to need condoms and we’ll try to get them to you.”
GMFA is a volunteer-led organisation and always welcomes new volunteers to help out with its many campaigns targeting gay men. GMFA volunteers develop HIV information booklets, contribute to GMFA’s websites and FS magazine, deliver workshops and create health projects specifically for black gay men or gay men with HIV. For gay men and their friends who want to improve gay men’s health, Pride is the ideal opportunity to find out more about volunteering opportunities at GMFA by visiting its stand in Trafalgar Square.
