Innovative Event Services is a company that specializes in audio, video and lighting for live events, corporate meeting, parties and weddings. We take pride in custom designing every event we do to meet the needs of each client, no matter the size or scope of the project. Every project is different and therefore deserves to be treated as an opportunity to be uniquely creative and expressive.
What motivated you to start your business?
In 2005, after years of touring and working for other production companies, I felt the need to be more involved with my clientele. In order to take an event from plain to extraordinary, it is critical for the client, planner and vendors to all have a clear vision of the overall event. By spending time with the client to develop that vision, all of the vendors are able to execute their craft at the highest level of efficacy and all choices made by the team should work in unison towards the creation of the “perfect event”.
What have been your greatest successes?
Success can be measured in many ways: financial, quantity, quality, etc…, but my preferred unit of measurement is joy. There is no greater sense of accomplishment and satisfaction in a job well done, than when a client gets their first view of the finished product and a pure sense of joy washes over them. Whether it is a simple ballroom setup, with all of the tables, chairs and screens set up “just right”, or an elaborate wedding creating the perfect fairy tale that has come to life, when you have executed a “perfect event”, there is no greater feeling of success.
What has been your greatest challenge and how did you overcome it?
The greatest challenge is getting a new client on board with understanding the importance of a clear and unified vision. Frequently we encounter clients that are reluctant to share information, like who their planner or caterer is. To them, it makes sense that the audio visual company be informed about the needs of the band or necessity of a microphone for a toast, but typically they do not realize the other departments also interact heavily with av as well. Things like the color of the linens or placement of the cake can drastically impact the lighting design. Heat lamps for a carving station or fans for a tent can draw large amounts of power, which typically falls under the realm of the av company. Proper timing of vendor setup and tear down is also crucial to the success of an event. Planning and communication are key to overcoming any challenges. Once you have educated a client about how all of the elements work together, they are typically very open and appreciative to having a team that is working for their best interest.
What advice would you give to other businesses in appealing to the LGBT+ community?
The LGBT+ community is AMAZING! With society as a whole breaking away from the restrictive confines of the traditional standards for events, the door is wide open for creative and artistic new approaches. Do not be afraid to take chances. Open your mind to new ideas and help your clients explore the possibilities.
