Coventry and Warwickshire Friend, who have provided advice and support for the LGBT community for the past 30 years, are celebrating attaining registered Charity status.

Since its establishment as a telephone helpline in 1980, Coventry and Warwickshire Friend has offered information, support, friendship and advice to the gay, lesbian, bisexual and trans community and their families. Over the years the service has developed and now offers a range of social events in addition to over the phone support and a Facebook site.

Coventry and Warwickshire Friend are delighted that the Charity Commission for England and Wales have granted the organisation Charitable Status in recognition for the valuable service provided by its volunteers to the local LGBT community. It has been a long process and Friend wish to thank everyone who has supported the application and continues to work hard to make the organisation a great success.

Coventry and Warwickshire Friend are always looking out for members of the LGBT community to volunteer, especially on the phone helpline. Full training and support is given; anyone interested can ring 02476 714199, email admin@cwfriend.co.uk or check out the website www.cwfriend.co.uk.
