HIV and sexual health charity Terrence Higgins Trust (THT) will be out in force at Essex Pride (Sunday 4th September), reminding people attending to look after their sexual health. Gay men remain the group most at risk of HIV infection in the UK, and Pride is a great opportunity for THT to engage with them and ensure they have the information and resources they need to protect themselves.
The charity will run an information stand in Central Park, Chelmsford from 12pm – 4pm. From the stand, THT staff and volunteers will provide advice and information on safer sex, and hand out free condoms and goodies to festival-goers.
Victoria Gamble, Manager for THT in the East of England said: “Essex Pride is a great event for the local LGBT community, but also a chance for Terrence Higgins Trust to reach large numbers of people at risk of sexual ill health. We’re delighted to be involved with this year’s event. Gay men remain at significantly higher risk of HIV and other STIs, so it’s vital we give them, along with other local people, what they need to stay safe.”
Essex Pride will be held in Central Park, Chelmsford and will run on the 4th September, 2011 opening at 12:30pm For more information on THT’s services in Essex and the East of England please contact Victoria Gamble on 07875 229 251, or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
