Dog lovers from all over the country will be heading to Brighton & Hove and congregating at Hove Rugby Football Club, Old Shoreham Road on Sunday, 3rd July for this year’s Pride Companion Dog Show in association with Coastway VeterinaryGroup.
The organizers are hoping to see hundreds of happy dogs enrolled in the wide variety of classes, both pedigree, condition and novelty, and aim to beat last year’s record entry of more than 600.
The Pride Companion Dog Show gets bigger and better every year, and is a great day out for all the family, whether you have a dog or not! Spectators, who get in for free, can enjoy a fun day in the park watching the judging of the categories, browsing the numerous trade stands and being entertained by a range of displays and activities.
For the serious dog show fancier the well-known Kennel Club judge Gary Gregory will be casting his knowledgeable eye over all the pedigree classes. The condition classes will be judged by the Coastway Veterinary Team, and for the novelty classes, including the dog with the wiggliest tail and best six legs, Brighton’s very own Miss Jason, will be handing out the rosettes and bringing a touch of Brighton glamour to the occasion!
Alongside the main categories there will also be other dog themed entertainment, including an agility display courtesy of Coastway, a guide dog demonstration and “Go Walkies” walk from The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association and a guest appearance from Mugly, Britain’s ugliest dog!
Pride Volunteer and professional photographer Simon Callaghan from Lucid Photography will be offering a snapshot photography service to capture the moment, as well as volunteering his time as the official Pride Photographer for the day.
Entries for the various classes cost just £2 and the proceeds go to Pride in Brighton & Hove. Registration for entries begins at 11.30am, and dogs may be entered into more than one class. Hove Rugby Football Club, who are donating the venue free of charge again, will be providing a range of refreshments from their club house/bar, and ice creams and sweets will be available from traders on the site.
Pride Trustee, Barry Stannard said: ‘The Pride Companion Dog Show just keeps getting better year on year and we’re very grateful to everyone who helps us make it such a great success. Not only would this truly fun day out be impossible to stage without the support of Hove Rugby Football Club and Coastway VeterinaryGroup, we are also indebted to the generosity of our volunteer team for giving us their time and hard work and the traders who’ll be there offering a range of top quality products.’
There will be a wide variety of trade stands for visitors on the day. There is no entry fee onto the ground, but Pride volunteers will be out in force with programmes for the day and collecting buckets.
There are still a few trade stands available, although with double the amount of stalls already booked compared to 2010 space is now limited so be quick! Space can be booked through the Pride Office and starts from just £75.00 including VAT. Please email email@example.com or call 01273 775939.
